About
About CGPA Calculator
A free, simple tool that helps students understand their grades, with no sign-ups and no confusing maths.
Who made this
CGPA Calculator is built and maintained by Muhammad Bilal, a web developer from Pakistan. You can see the site's code and other projects on GitHub.
Why we built this
Almost every student has sat with a transcript and a phone calculator, trying to work out their GPA before results come out or wondering what they need next semester to reach a goal. The maths isn't hard, but it's easy to slip up: forgetting to weight by credit hours, using the wrong grade points, or applying the wrong percentage formula.
CGPA Calculator takes that stress away. You type in your subjects or semesters and the answer appears straight away. We also show the formula, so you can see exactly how each number was worked out.
What you can do here
- Semester GPA: from letter grades or from your marks.
- Overall CGPA: correctly weighted by credit hours, for as many semesters as you need.
- Target CGPA: find the GPA you need in your remaining semesters to reach your goal.
- CGPA to percentage: for the 4.0, 10-point and 5.0 scales, with the formula shown.
- Grade point tables: for each scale, so you can check how grades turn into points.
The calculator supports the 4.0 scale used in Pakistan and the USA, the 10-point scale used in India, and the 5.0 scale used in Nigeria and some other countries.
What we care about
- Free for everyone. No accounts, no paywalls and no limits on how often you use it.
- Private by design. The numbers you enter stay in your own browser. Read our Privacy Policy to learn more.
- Clear and honest. We show the formulas we use and point out where universities do things differently.
- Made for phones. Most students use their phones, so the site is designed to be fast and easy on a small screen.
A note on accuracy
We use the most common grading tables and formulas, and we test our calculations carefully. Still, every university sets its own rules for grade points, rounding, repeated courses and percentage conversion. Please treat our results as a helpful estimate, and confirm them with your own university's official rules before using them in an application. Our Terms of Use explain this in more detail.
