PNG and PNGK at UKM
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) calls the semester GPA PNG (Purata Nilai Gred) and the CGPA PNGK (Purata Nilai Gred Kumulatif). Both are credit-weighted averages: multiply each course's grade value by its credit hours, add up the results and divide by the total credit hours you took.
The worked example in the UKM regulations divides 77.98 by 27 and gives a PNGK of 2.88. Since 77.98 ÷ 27 is 2.888…, the result is cut after two decimals rather than rounded, and this calculator shows UKM results the same way.

Worked example from the UKM regulations
| Cours | Note | Grade value | Crédits | Value × credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XA1013 | A | 4.00 | 3 | 12.00 |
| XB1013 | B+ | 3.33 | 3 | 9.99 |
| XC1013 | A- | 3.67 | 3 | 11.01 |
| XD1512 | E | 0.00 | 2 | 0.00 |
| XE1512 | D | 1.00 | 2 | 2.00 |
| Total | 13 | 35.00 |
PNG = 35.00 ÷ 13 = 2.69
In semester 2 the same student earns 42.98 points over 14 credits, so the PNGK is (35.00 + 42.98) ÷ (13 + 14) = 77.98 ÷ 27 = 2.88.

| 1.00 – below 2.00 | Conditional pass (Lulus Bersyarat), not eligible to graduate |
| Below 1.00 | Fail and dismissed |
To graduate you also need at least 120 credits (or the total your programme sets), and your programme may add its own conditions. If you repeat a course, the PNGK uses only your latest grade for it.
